Amsterdam police have received 140 tips following a public appeal to identify a man residing in a care home. The man, known as ‘Lucky’, has been unable to communicate his identity since suffering a stroke or brain hemorrhage three years ago, resulting in aphasia. He can only utter the words "nonsense" and "definitely." Authorities have determined he was once part of a Buddhist community in Amsterdam-Oost and frequented a food stall at Waterlooplein, where he was called ‘Chris de Canadees’. Police suspect he is not Dutch, due to his consistent use of English. A video with English subtitles has been released to broaden the search, and the cold case team is currently reviewing all received leads hoping to give “Lucky” back his name and connect him with his past.
