The second phase of elections for the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly will take place on Sunday, encompassing nine constituencies in the Muzaffarabad division and all 12 seats reserved for Kashmiri refugees residing in Pakistan. Over 340 candidates are competing for these 21 seats, with 207 vying for positions within Muzaffarabad division and 137 for the refugee constituencies. A total of over 1.2 million registered voters—809,621 in Muzaffarabad division and 438,834 among refugees—are eligible to cast their ballots from 8am to 5pm. Authorities have again suspended internet services, citing concerns about potential disruptions to the electoral process, with restoration anticipated after the polls close. Despite the disruption, the Election Commission has affirmed that polling will proceed as scheduled. Security has been heightened, with polling staff dispatched to 1,483 established polling stations across the region.
