A ceremony honoring 96 outstanding Vietnamese farmers was held in Hà Nội on October 12th. The event celebrated 40 years of đổi mới (renewal) in Việt Nam. Bùi Thị Minh Hoài, a member of the Politburo, Central Party Committee Secretary, and Chairwoman of the Việt Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee, attended the ceremony.
