Two thieves stole paintings worth €9 million from the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France, according to the city's mayor. The thieves broke into the museum and stole four paintings by the French Impressionist, but dropped one during their escape, stated Mayor Bryan Masson. The mayor’s staff estimates the stolen artworks are valued at €9 million. The museum, dedicated to the Impressionist artist Auguste Renoir, is located in Cagnes-sur-Mer, just west of Nice on the French Riviera. This is not the first time Renoir artwork has been stolen from the museum; paintings were also stolen in March and recovered in August. The investigation into the current theft is ongoing.
