Authorities have scheduled 26 special round-trip flights to facilitate travel for Arbaeen pilgrims traveling from Tabriz, Iran, to Najaf, Iraq. These flights will operate from Tabriz’s Shahid Madani International Airport. The announcement was made by the director general of East Azarbaijan Province’s Airports. The increased flight availability aims to accommodate the large number of Iranians participating in the annual Shia Muslim pilgrimage. Arbaeen marks the 40th day after Ashura and is a deeply significant occasion for mourning and remembrance. The flights are specifically designed to support pilgrims making the journey to visit the Imam Hussein shrine in Karbala. This initiative demonstrates continued efforts to support religious tourism and facilitate safe travel for Iranian citizens.
